Damai Puri Resort

Locals are more familiar with the former Damai Lagoon.. now it's called Damai Puri Resort, jalan Santubong, Kuching.  A place slightly away from town center.

The beach is awesome!  With splendid mountain view... Great men-made water activity spots created for kids within resort... to splash into!

For a day or two stay, I find it secluded & creepy though as the resort's staff were scarce.  Service was ok.. you'll need to be a little patient that's all.

Parking is a little below the hill when you enter the premise.  You need to walk up to the main resort area.  If you're not into walking much, you can park your car right in front of lobby where parking lots are ... only that you'll be charged rm50 per day I think.. still, it was a great hideout spot!

Ayam Penyet at Kuching

Thinking of food with the likes of Malaysia food variety...chicken rice, nasi goreng ayam, rojak ayam... try ayam penyet... it's worth a try!

At Pak Somet Ayam Penyet... get the taste here. Located along Kuching river, across Tun Jugah's shopping complex. It's just behind a row of shophouse with pizza hut at the corner shoplot.

Served with white rice, pucuk ulam, some slices of cucumber & sambal belacan, the chicken is fried.. marinated with spices.

The chicken thigh was fried to a degree of crisp...I'd rather the chicken be made a little tender & moist.  However, overall ayam penyet here is boleh tahan sedap!

Teh tarik cafeteria

On a lazy sunday...
went for a day out
stumbled upon this eatery...
I guess its kindof new

somewhere near bako...jln gersik
located next to Wanda...the teh tarik cafeteria.
Tried out the 'handmade burger'
It was deweecious!
The beef was thick...kaw kaw...juicy
yummy...
but beware! You really need to open up wide to wallop them in!

You can't miss this...its from the roadside of kfc demak

Not bad for a night cap! Mind you...this is pretty heavy for a meal..
worth the ringgit spent.
Have a go...will ya?

Treatment with qigong?

For the inspired, new ideas are always welcomed.
Science & medicine..they say are inseparable.

Got to know of this from a fren I know.
its weird when you think of it...but belief me...Ive seen it!

Treatment...bodily, by qigong method.
went to this private owner's premise who provide healing services
to visitors.  Visitors are more on nuero complications.
A person I know went for treatment when I followed.

you'll need to get your queue no.at the entrance.
meet the owner who operates qigong who will treat you...
he uses electrifying current to kindof "pull" dormant nerve pulses

Amazing... these technique works real miraculuosly.
I was astounded!  Of course, patients will need to care for
themselves...as advised.

This is life's wonders...I believe healers like these are
Contributing to community what doctors do...
healers with a beautiful gift who shares this skill for
good purposes...

Try it out!

Sure...they are real!  Exotic bright colours to brighten your gloomy days...

school break here I come!....one santubong resort

Time off with family is a thing I look up to almost every weekend.  The Gawai cum long school holiday was a treat! A time to be together...

went for the greener scenery way up at santubong, kuching.  A great hideout for some peace of kind away from the hustle & bustle of the city.

Here's a  peep of how the rooms are at.  If you prefer your family be under one roof...best take up the wooden cosy bungalow...homey!
Take a lok at that...

Got to the pool in the morning...wasn't surprise to find holiday mood residents of one santubong.

Look at those trees...aren't they cool! Righ within the bungalows and residential suites.  They kindof provide some cooling shades from the sun...

Great times we had with the kids... lots of fun & lots of sun....

what's trending?

It's a norm being surrounded by groups of people who just meet-up but utter little to each other.  Be it families, among friends, or anyone at all.

Rather not unusual for families come together at eateries. Somehow it bugs me to see many members sit on a table, probably pre booked earlier.... but little is being exchanged. Look around you. You won't be surprised to see most of them trending in....

Engrossed in the gadget world of apps...the handy smartphone...android...you name them!  What with face time, all forms of chat...wonder how communication have evolutionized!

kek lapis sarawak

Kek lapis sarawak....it's sarawak's layered cake...tat's all.  If you've not tried them...go get yourself some.  Pamper yourself with a little sweetness & the joy of seeing brightly coloured cakes.

visit our local producer...Mira Cake House at kpg gersik. You'll find several other operators there too.

This is another operator...Mariam cakes at medan niaga.  Their type of cakes are more attuned to artistic display. Sort of like pattern & intricate layers of creative art.  Refreshing that they name their layered cakes taking into consideration traditional woven mats...like that of tikar mengkuang, buluh, etc

Wow..just you look at them...colours so bright..might give some a scare!  Before these cakes were made super sweet...however..we all know how too much sugar is on you...so they have decided not lower down sugar in their cakes.

these are for tasting samples...

Some cakes are named after artists, songs...like Hafiz's awan nano...Pandalela cake..

Dine in & order...really order yourself...

Ever tried the reputable rojak kuchei?  It's a special blend of mamak rojak with a twist of creativity.  The chicken is freshly fried...cut right out from the fire...

you'll see it for yourself since you'll just have to line up to make & wait for what you ordered.  Maybe they're just short of employees to help up.  Well...it's worth the wait.

Just look at the line! Seems loyal customers just won't let go.  That's how good it is..

Seafood anyone?

Trying out food in Penang is great fun!  Try the seafood stalls.... I've sampled kueh teow fried with seafood.  Fuh!  You shouldn't miss that...

superb! See the fresh prawns...
I guess its just the norm that you get to see lots and lots of chilies cut into small tabs like these on the table alongside dishes you ordered. It's like pickled, with a little tadte of lemon or some might use vinegar to moderate the hot taste.

The food was great!
Try them out...

Visit Kuching, Sarawak

Kuching the 'cat city' of Sarawak, within the island of Borneo is one exotic destination you'll not want to miss. The adventure, the mystery alongside the colourful ethnicity of its population plus its serenity is a definite "come on".

The Sarawakians, are the malays, chinese, ibans, bidayuh, kelabit, murut, etc. Each with their own dialects & unique customs & traditions.

Ibans's longhouses, the bidayuhs' baruk are some of the few so-called homes of the local ethnic.  Today, Kuching city is like no other.

Take a serene stroll along Kuching Waterfront.. enjoy the cool breeze on evening walks.  You'll find small stalls along the way. Some are small kiosk cafes that sells a great array of local dishes...

You'll see this restaurant that offers to sell food till late at night.  No harm stopping by for a hot cup of tea.. Across the waters, you'll see the new Dewan Undangan Negeri's building. A landmark so significant you won't miss it!

Look over thete, across the Kuching river, its the new parliamentary DUN bilding.

Just a few steps across is Hilton Hotel.  Walk over to the traffic light cross over & you're there.
Kuching town is an old town, the central part is where you'll see the hustle of daily business and selling activities by locals & shops along the roads.
I dare say, Kuching has got the most roundabouts I can find in Malaysia.
The british-built courthouse in the old days has long benn transformed into commercial lots.  You can find restaurants, travel agencies & handicraft shops here.

Hop on the Star Cruise for a better feel of viewing Kuching city on water. Cruise along Kuching river and enjoy the beauty of nature on the island of Borneo, Land of the Hornbills.

Simply...Salt CheeseCracker Layer Cake

It's Good Friday, was wondering what I'd do for the 3day weekend this week!  After awhile I thought why not try out something light and breezy...

Lets make some fast goodies...simple & brief & a quickie.
I've got some salt cheese crackers, a little of all that I need to get this done.

Here's things you may want to get ready:
500gm Cream Cheese
10-30 ml Full-cream Milk
A can of condensed milk or you might prefer sugar instead
2 packs of Cream Cheese Crackers.. Khong Guan's

Lets do the filling first;
Warm about a cup of Full Cream Milk, into a bowl. Mix Cream Cheese with the condensed milk (or sugar) till creamy. Occassionally add some Full Cream Milk to this mixture till its richer & creamier.  Now that fiiling is done, we proceed with constructing the cake... wow! Sounds technical! No worries....we do this the simplified way!

Soak Salt Cheese Cracker piece by piece into warm Full Cream Milk. Cracker will be a little soft after a slight soak. Try not to overdo it or you'll have difficulty handling the crackers. Place soaked cracker on the base of your baking tray.

Arrange each cracker so you'll cover the base. Pour over Cream Cheese filling to make a thin layer over crackers.
Make another layer of soaked crackers on top of filling.  Put on filling layer & repeat.

If you like sprinkle Nestum over soaked Crackers.  Some might prefer to add Oreo Biscuits.

Put on layers till you finish your 2pack Salt Cheese Crackers. Once that's done, keep in fridge to cool.  I love them when done...its creamy sweet & rich taste is ....fantastic!

Try it out... its a breeze!

Laksa Sarawak

If you're in Sarawak, check out Laksa Sarawak, a popular authentic spicy delicacy by the locals.  With a little taste of local spice, added with rich coconut milk 'santan' this should not be missed!

Very different if compared to Laksa Johor or Laksa Penang, it has a taste of its own....deeweecious!

I've tried one of the best Laksa locally. You may want to see for yourself here. Visit a home based Laksa operator at kampung Patingan. Situated right by the roadside of kpg Patingan, Kuching, Sarawak.

Homely ambience...you may want to drop by in the mornings else you won't find the place open in the afternoon. Check it out... it's worth a try. Cheers!
